01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Always be yourself with every person you come across. Don't give anyone any inkling that you're not who you say you are. It's so many different attitudes within healthcare and you may come across a person that treats me with the utmost respect but when you come across that person you don't get the same.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Always be yourself. If you don't have a nurturing heart, healthcare is not for you. If you don't have a nurturing heart, I don't care what department you're in, because you are gonna always come across some form of a patient, whether it's in person or over the phone. And if you can't be genuine with a person, how are they going to trust you with their life, or with their healthcare.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges would be patients not actually listening and hearing us when we're telling them what is necessary for them to stay healthy or to process their claims correctly. A lot of times people come into the office and don't have their coverage. Also change within the company and not having all the necessary tools to utilize.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Kindness. Being in healthcare... I thought that everybody treated people with kindness. I would have to say, in healthcare, there's not a lot of kindness. So I look for kindness and value of people, and in everyday life. I'm looking for some kindness, because I see so much distress.
