Her Interview
Ten minutes with Anum
01What do you attribute your success to?
I try to learn from everyone I work with, even juniors, by being like a sponge that absorbs whatever anyone is offering. I believe everyone has something to teach, and staying kind and down to earth has helped me learn a lot throughout my career.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Whatever you do, you should enjoy it and do it with passion. If you do it just for money, you will get tired and give up, but with passion you can keep going even when it gets harder.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Keep doing what you are doing, have confidence in yourself, have patience, and don't give up. Life has ups and downs, but your time will come if you keep going and keep pushing.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Funding is the main issue in research right now, but everything is figureoutable through more innovation and work. Also, as AI is coming in, we need to learn AI and grow with it.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Never compromise on your self-respect. Be kind but don't let anyone treat you badly or question your worth. Have confidence in yourself, don't let anyone look you down, and don't look down on someone else.
