Anuradha Basu

I am an entrepreneurship educator, scholar, and practitioner with a distinguished career spanning over three decades in academia and the financial sector. I currently serve as Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business at San Jose State University, a role I have held since August 2003, and as Director of the Silicon Valley Center for Entrepreneurship, which I have led since January 2004. In these roles, I teach and mentor the next generation of entrepreneurs, develop innovative curricula, and connect students with the resources and networks they need to launch and grow successful ventures in one of the world's most dynamic innovation ecosystems.

Prior to joining San Jose State, I served as a Visiting Scholar at the Stanford Center for International Development at Stanford University for one year, where I engaged in research and collaboration on international economic development. Before that, I spent ten years as a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, where I developed my foundation as an educator and researcher in economics and entrepreneurship.

Earlier in my career, I worked in the private sector as an International Account Officer at Bank of America for over four years, where I gained practical experience in international finance and banking that continues to inform my teaching and research.

I hold a Ph.D. in Economics and an M.Phil in Economics from the University of Cambridge, where I was a member of King's College.

Across my career in academia, research, and practice, my work has been driven by a passion for entrepreneurship education, economic development, and preparing students to create value and make a positive impact in the world. Whether I am teaching in the classroom, leading the Silicon Valley Center for Entrepreneurship, or conducting research on international development, I bring a deep commitment to excellence, a global perspective, and a belief in the transformative power of entrepreneurship to change lives and communities. I am proud of the work I have done and excited to continue shaping the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders.
