Her Story

About Anushree

I have been in my field for 14 years, with a strong background in dentistry, public health, and dental public health. I hold a degree in dentistry and have several years of work experience in dentistry in both India and the United States. I earned my Master's of Public Health and have more than 5 years of experience in public health. I completed advanced training through a one-year residency and one-year fellowship in dental public health through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As an avid researcher, I have over 20 publications to my name. Most of my career has been dedicated to providing services to underserved and vulnerable populations, which drives my passion. Before my current role, my most notable projects at the CDC included research on oral health status and its association with disability in older adults, and work on medical-dental integration, specifically examining how often children under a certain age receive preventive oral health services during routine medical care visits. I started my current role as Chief of Oral Health for Illinois five weeks ago, where I work with stakeholders across the state, including dental organizations, for-profit and non-profit entities, and community health organizations, to increase prevention and access to dental care. My everyday work involves collaborating across different teams, actively working on the school dental sealant program, providing compliance visits to school sealant programs, and working with surveillance teams to track dental-related data including HPSA shortage areas and practicing dentist coverage.
