Q

What do you attribute your success to?

Hard work, really. You know, I was very lucky - my very first job in insurance in Dublin over 20 years ago was with Marsh Management Services, and they were probably one of the founding captive managers at the time. From there, I had such fantastic opportunities, from London doing offshore business development in the Channel Islands, Bermuda, and Cayman for financial services. I wasn't afraid to go where the work was and to just say yes to opportunities. It's such a phenomenal industry.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say build your network. Become extremely technical and very focused on your area. Keep an open heart and mind, you know, attend the events. I feel like we're all quite sometimes a little bit isolated, but this alternative risk space is very niche, and there's some really awesome people in it. The more people you get to know, the more familiar you become with how actually innovative it is and what an expansive community and type of insurance it is. I would say build your network, become technically proficient in what you do, and once you do the work, you certainly will reap the rewards for sure.
