About Apoorva
Apoorva Metkari serves as a Research Scientist in the DMPK department at QPS LLC, a contract research organization in Newark, Delaware. In this role, she conducts studies on drug metabolism to evaluate how medicines interact with the body, their metabolism, potential toxicity, and safety for human trials, including analysis of first-in-human drugs. She earned her PhD in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Delaware, where her doctoral research centered on building organs in the lab for potential transplantation, with a focus on head and neck cancers. Metkari has nearly two years of post-PhD and postdoc industry experience and maintains active memberships in the Society for Biomaterials, the Biomedical Engineering Society, and the American Society for Mass Spectrometry. She has published multiple research papers, with additional works under publication and conference presentations, and she filed a US patent application two years ago.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think it is very important to do what you're passionate about, like, and to do it really well, like excel at what you are passionate about. In this field there are a lot of options that you want to try out, and whatever suits them, suits young women, I think they should go for that and be amazing at it.
