Her Interview
Ten minutes with April
01What do you attribute your success to?
Relationships. I've built a network of strong relationships, and I'm blessed because people have believed in me, and they see my hard work, and my willingness to help and advocate for people, and I owe it to my relationships.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is not to assume that hard work will always speak for itself. Being prepared, dependable, and capable matters, but you must also know how to communicate the value you bring.
That advice changed how I approach leadership, interviews, networking, and entrepreneurship. I believe in substance first, but I have learned that substance and visibility are not opposites. You can produce excellent work while also being intentional about helping the right people understand your experience, your capabilities, and the problems you can solve.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering real estate to focus on becoming knowledgeable, not simply visible. Social media and personal branding can help people discover you, but preparation, honesty, and follow-through are what earn their trust.
Learn the contracts, understand financing, study your market, and become comfortable explaining complex information clearly. A home is often the largest financial decision someone will make, so your responsibility is not merely to complete a transaction. It is to help people understand their options and make decisions that serve them well.
I would also remind them that relationships take time. Build a reputation for being dependable, stay curious, and do not measure your progress against someone else’s highlight reel.
