Her Story

About April

April Kolodge serves as a Sales Executive at LHH, a global staffing and recruiting firm based in North Dallas, Texas. She focuses on placing professionals in finance and accounting, human resources, administrative, and IT roles by building relationships with clients ranging from small businesses to enterprise-level companies. After completing high school and some college, Kolodge entered the industry following a suggestion from a college colleague and honed her people skills from prior bartending experience. She previously worked at Addison Group before joining LHH, where she has qualified for the President's Club. Kolodge credits her three children, particularly her desire to inspire her daughter, as a key driver of her success, emphasizing persistence through challenges. She values honesty, transparency, and communication, and advises connecting with others on a human level. Outside of work, she hosts the Big Girl Pants podcast since 2018, discussing human-centric topics like mental health, parenting, and careers.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with April

01What do you attribute your success to?

My kids have exponentially changed my life. I want to show my daughter that she is capable of doing anything she wants no matter what anybody says. Successful people keep climbing up through challenges. You just keep waking up and keep doing the thing.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Everybody is just people. When meeting C-level executives remember they are human just like you, they go home to family, have ups and downs. Connect with them on a human level and don't forget that.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't quit. Be yourself, do the right thing, tell the truth even when you mess up. There are no shortcuts in being successful. Do the work and you will feel good about yourself and have peace.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Helping clients with the implementation of AI. I use AI every day for simplification and to take administrative tasks out of the job so I can focus on the human element.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, transparency, and communication. Everything is figureoutable. You just have to talk about it.
