Her Interview

Ten minutes with April

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

A lot of it comes from personal experience. Just whatever you do, just don't give up in your dreams. I'm that person that I like to just help out, because I didn't have anyone to advocate for me when I needed that help, so I'm just trying to be that voice for other people who don't know how to advocate for themselves.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Go in with an open mind, open heart. You have to have empathy. Passion. I'm doing it because I have a passion for it, and because I just love helping people.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The only challenge I have is financial, trying to find someone who can, a grant writer, because I have been coming off my own money to fund some of these drives or charity drives.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Just be professional at all times. Be professional while you're doing what you're doing. Go in with an open heart, open mind. Empathy.
