Her Interview
Ten minutes with Apryl
01What do you attribute your success to?
I stand on the shoulders of my parents, my grandparents, my great-grandparents. As a person of African descent, whose ancestors came to this country by way of the transatlantic slave situation, great sacrifices were made for me to be here.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received was to finish it. Whenever you start, finish it. If you take it on, complete it, no matter what, finish it.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For a young woman, I would say really be true to yourself. And flow in the direction that water runs. Don't flow uphill. Make sure that you're in the space that you enjoy.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My biggest challenge right now is the overall malaise and depression that I find everybody to be in. The biggest challenge in my industry right now would be finding places that the retail establishment is willing to stick with it until it takes hold.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Loyalty is number one for me. And also, with that comes just trust and honesty. I also think that the ability to really listen and hearing is something I really value as well.
