Her Story

About Arielle

I'm a freelance graphic designer who has been working in my field for about 3 plus years now. Originally from Brooklyn, I moved to Florida about 6 years ago, and coming from a city that was very fast-paced, with art everywhere, urban, and just full of community and diversity, I noticed that Florida lacks a lot of that. As a graphic designer, I passionately believe in art for change, and I like to create art that helps the community, uplifts it, and is a voice for the ones who are underrepresented. One of my most notable achievements was making it across the country for an internship in Australia, where I worked for an organization called Cultural Infusion's Atlas. I spent 3 months there working on diversity initiatives and learning about different cultures. I learned so much while making a great impact with them. I just graduated from the University of Central Florida in December with a bachelor's in Visual Arts Management and a minor in digital media, after starting my journey in art at Valencia College. Now I'm applying all the personal and professional skills I learned as I move forward in my career.

Ten minutes with Arielle

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say do what makes you more afraid, because that will make you grow as a person, as a young woman and professional, and lead you to things that you might have thought never interested you.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The primary challenge in my job search has been pinpointing roles that genuinely align with my passion for the non-profit art sector. While I'm deeply drawn to this area, many opportunities either offer compensation that doesn't reflect the work, or they demand a scope of skills so broad it's simply unrealistic for a single individual. Furthermore, I've observed that three years of experience, while often considered mid-level in some fields, is frequently perceived as entry-level within graphic design, complicating the search for roles that fully leverage and value my current skill set.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My approach to my career is rooted in authenticity and honesty, guided by a principle of leading with purpose and genuine care. I find that this commitment translates directly into the quality and sincerity of my work, which is recognized by others and facilitates truly impactful professional relationships, ultimately contributing to a more fulfilling and successful career path.
