Her Story

About Arooj

Arooj Fatima, MD, MPH, is a Faculty Research Associate at Johns Hopkins. She received her MD in Pakistan and began her career in clinical practice before transitioning to clinical research in the United States.

Since starting a career in research in United States, she has quickly progressed from a part-time research assistant to coordinator, supervisor, manager, and ultimately to her current role as a pulmonary faculty. She has pursued this professional growth alongside part-time graduate studies at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Through her work, Dr. Fatima has developed extensive experience in clinical trials, research methodology, and team management. She continues to rise as an influential woman leader in the field and is particularly interested in advancing her work in academic research. At Johns Hopkins, she manages research activities and contributes to ICU clinical trial work. She also serves as Director of Education at HDmedical, a biomedical device company, where she provides strategic leadership and consultancy.

Dr. Fatima balances her professional life with being present for her family, particularly as a parent. Of all the roles she plays, being a mom is certainly her favorite.
