Her Story
About Arti
I've been in the IT industry for 29 years, and it's been a surprisingly rewarding journey where I've always found a growing path and supporters who have helped me through this journey. Currently, I manage the U.S. markets portfolio for one of the IT consulting firms. My work involves ensuring we deliver exceptional services to our prime customers, helping them with transformation initiatives, and recovering difficult scenarios where we haven't been able to provide good service to bring things back on track. One of my most notable achievements was being awarded the Stevie award of the year for women in computing a few years back, which is an international award. What I love most about my career are two things: helping people, particularly our clients as they are transforming their businesses, and connecting with people. I'm a people person, so talking to people, learning about them, and sharing about myself is something I feel very personable and very exciting about.

Ten minutes with Arti
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to two things. One is my family, because it always takes support as a female to excel - it's not just you, your family has to support you, your husband has to support you. But then also, I have had a lot of mentors through my journey, and I give a lot of credit to them, because getting advice at the right time is important, and I've been lucky enough to have that.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received is that as a team member or as a leader, you praise people in a group setting, but when you have to give them some constructive feedback, you always do it one-on-one. I've always kept that close to me.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would inspire people to enter our industry, because I feel like a lot of times people think it's not an easy job, especially for females with families or young kids. That's not true. I think you can find a work-life balance, and you have to make sure you're vocal about yourself and you're an advocate of yourself with your leaders. This is a very rewarding industry, and I would welcome women to explore this as an option.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The current challenge we have is AI, which is going to change the industry and the world quite a bit. But that challenge is also an opportunity - your challenges turn into opportunities. The question is how do you learn AI, and how do you best fit that into your world, so that it doesn't become a challenge, but you turn that into an opportunity for yourself and your team members. You always have opportunity to grow.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important value to me is respect - mutual respect - whoever you're working with, whether it's upper people managers or people under you. The second thing is hard work. Sometimes things are not as easy to achieve, so finding ways and thinking out of the box in terms of solving things are my top priorities.
