About Ary
Ary Cardona serves as Director of Workforce Development for University of East London, Americas, where she has worked for the past three months. In this capacity, she focuses on building strategic partnerships with employers across industries such as IT and healthcare to provide continued professional development courses, internships, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities for students and alumni. With 15 years of experience in workforce development and career services, Cardona bridges the gap between employers and education by leveraging her background in career services coordination, admissions, and roles in beauty schools, allied health, and trades. Her professional journey began after transitioning from retail, guided by mentorship and experience often described as the School of Hard Knocks. Previously active in the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club, she attributes her success to positivity, attitude, and the support of mentors, including Nikki Good, whose advice of One Team One Mission (O-T-O-M) she carries forward. Cardona values integrity above all and advises young women entering the field to persist through challenges, ask questions, and learn from mistakes.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Ary
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from positivity, attitude, and support from mentors. Having that support has been the biggest thing I can value right now.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received is O-T-O-M, One Team One Mission, from my mentor Nikki Good. It's something I take with me because I love it and it stands for who we are in any organization or culture.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't give up. There are going to be a lot of rough patches and obstacles in education. In this field everyone knows each other and is willing to help. Ask questions, don't be afraid to ask, and don't be afraid to make mistakes. That's how we get better and excel.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is the most important value. It's your brand, your business card, it's who you are.
