Her Story

About Asha

Asha Ford specializes in 2D animation, motion design, and motion graphics, creating content that tells stories in a way she describes as priceless since a picture is worth a thousand words. Her work primarily targets female audiences, and she entered the field because she found art fun and realized people could make money doing it. After an internship at a large international corporation where she realized office life was not for her, Asha decided to build her own business, supported by her husband, allowing her to set her own schedules and pursue creative independence. She prioritizes playfulness and maintaining a childlike curiosity in her work and envisions an unconventional studio with a four-day workweek that remains remote yet collaborative. In her field, which she notes is male-dominated despite university programs being women-oriented, Asha advises young women that being different sets one apart and that women's voices are valuable. She views AI not as a challenge but as an opportunity to handle tedious tasks like frame drawing, ultimately making creators more valuable and enabling better content.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Asha

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

In motion design it's very male dominated even though university was women-oriented. I don't want younger me to ever think being different is a hindrance. It's what sets you apart. 50% of the population is still women and our voice is valuable.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI is seen by some as a challenge but I think it's a great opportunity. It can help with annoying things like frame drawing and make us more valuable and produce better content.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Playfulness is very important. Continuing to be in that childlike curiosity about things. I originally came into motion design because I just thought art was really fun.
