Her Interview
Ten minutes with Ashley
01What do you attribute your success to?
I'm a single parent and I think it's my daughter. Having that to be like, I'm working hard for that, for her. To show her what it means to persevere, what it means to work hard, even when it's if you're struggling and you don't want to, we get up every single day and we keep pushing. To be a real role model for her, I think, is my biggest thing.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Not to give up. There have been times where I was like, I'm done. I want I'm walking away. I can't do it, I don't want to do it, like, forget all of you. And it was more kind of like an in-the-moment. People were like, no, girl, you, you got this. You've got do not give up. And it's always been, like, Oh, I guess you're right. You know, I can't give up, and I do God office. And I really making sure you have people to support you is just so important, and if you have no one? That's okay, too, because you got you, and do you who are you really doing this for at the end of the day? It's for yourself. You know that you we're strong enough to do it.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't give up when it's hard. Persevere, keep pushing. And raise your hand. I and I couldn't stress that enough. Raise your hand. There is people out there. Can I be the first few people you ask? But keep keep asking. Somebody asks there is room to help you, somebody has the answer, and somebody wants you to succeed. And I think that that is something I'd love to share with women all over. And don't let anybody stop you. No man, no other woman.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Finding the time to for everyone to feel the support they need. I think also teaching, in this industry, I feel like if you don't raise your hand, people just think that you know it. And I think one thing that's broken in our system is, even if somebody doesn't say they need help, ask them. Somebody is they need help, because sometimes people, especially when they're new in their position, or maybe they're not familiar with the people and on the team, they're less likely to reach out and say they need help.
