About Ashley
Ashley BaroneJohnston has spent five years in recruiting, most recently focusing on the insurance sector. She joined Jonas Group in February to build out a division expanding employee benefits opportunities across North and South Carolina through strategic outreach and business development. Prior to this, she built the Midwest region at QuestPro after transitioning from food and beverage management at Levy Restaurants with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, where she also started a mentor program serving 400 people. With a background that includes a few credits toward early childhood education and prior teaching experience, Ashley draws on mentorship from figures like Taylor Jones to navigate the field. She serves on the RISE subcommittee for event planning and attributes her success to mentorship and pushing beyond comfort zones, while advising others to persist and leverage networks.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say, honestly, it just really does go back to, like, the mentorship and the people that you work with. I think that really meeting people... the biggest attribute is always doing something that is always going to be well worth it, whether it makes you comfortable or not.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say keep going. Just keep going. And it's gonna be tough, and no matter how tough it is, like, you are tougher, and always just... Reach out to your community and your network, no matter what industry, because you never know what may open up for you.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
From a recruiter's standpoint, it's definitely fighting the job market. And then in the insurance world, it's basically, like, the great retirement, so finding people that are interested in insurance. The insurance industry, of all the industries I've been in is hands down the most supportive. Everyone is willing to help and explain anything that you don't understand. There truly is no dumb question.
