Ashley Bradley

International Accounting Specialist
Cleveland, OH

I originally began my college journey pursuing a degree in Fashion Design because creativity and fashion have always been passions of mine. However, after evaluating long-term career opportunities and financial stability, I decided to transition into Business Management, as it aligned more closely with my entrepreneurial goals and allowed me to build a broader professional foundation.

In 2018, I launched my first business, which originally focused on cosmetics and beauty products, including eyelashes. As my vision evolved, I rebranded the company to A. Bradley Capital, with the long-term goal of expanding it into a parent company for multiple future business ventures and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Over the past 10–15 years, I have built a diverse professional background across customer service, operations, and corporate environments. I have held positions within major organizations, including Bank of America, Progressive Insurance, and a private aviation company, where I currently work remotely in aviation analytics managing international flight invoicing and vendor payments.

In May, I will graduate with my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and following graduation, I plan to pursue a career as either a Business Analyst or Data Analyst. I am passionate about combining analytical thinking, business strategy, and problem-solving to help organizations improve operational efficiency and drive growth.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I believe my drive comes from genuinely wanting more for myself and for my future. Growing up, I watched my parents attempt to pursue college, but life circumstances prevented them from completing that journey. Seeing that motivated me to approach life differently. I have never been the type of person to accept failure as the end of my story.

Although I had to step away from college shortly after high school due to financial hardships, I never gave up on the goal of earning my degree. Instead of deciding that I simply would not finish, I continued to persevere and return to school whenever I was able. That persistence has become one of the things that defines me most. I truly believe that even if something does not happen in my timing, it will happen when it is meant to, as long as I continue putting in the work and refusing to quit.

Education is something I take great pride in because I understand the value and sacrifice behind it. I have paid for much of my education out of pocket, which has made me appreciate the process even more and push myself to exceed expectations academically. In many ways, earning my degree represents more than just a personal accomplishment; it represents resilience, discipline, and commitment to creating a better future for myself.

I have spent much of my adult life pursuing my education on and off while balancing financial responsibilities, work, and real-life challenges. Despite all of the professional accomplishments I have achieved throughout my career, I consider my education to be one of my greatest achievements because it represents something no one can take away from me. To me, education provides a foundation, credibility, and a sense of accomplishment that supports every other goal and opportunity I pursue.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Honestly, some of the best career advice I’ve received is to maintain professional boundaries in the workplace and to be mindful about mixing personal relationships with business. While it’s important to build positive working relationships and collaborate effectively with others, I’ve learned that not every coworker relationship should become a close personal friendship.

Maintaining professionalism, protecting your peace, and keeping a healthy separation between work and personal life can help you navigate workplace dynamics more effectively. It has taught me the importance of staying focused on my goals, maintaining discretion, and ensuring that my professional reputation always remains a priority.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering the business and corporate world to never underestimate the value of their voice, their ideas, or their presence in professional spaces. Confidence is important, but so is preparation. Continue learning, ask questions, stay adaptable, and do not be afraid to take up space in rooms where you may feel underestimated.

I would also encourage them to remain resilient. Your career path may not always happen exactly how or when you planned, and setbacks do not mean failure. Some of the most important growth comes from navigating challenges, adjusting, and continuing to move forward anyway.

Networking and relationship-building are also extremely important. The connections you build, the way you treat people, and your professional reputation can open doors just as much as experience and education. At the same time, never stop investing in yourself, whether through education, certifications, or personal development.

Most importantly, I would tell young women not to limit themselves to one version of success. It is okay to evolve, change directions, pursue entrepreneurship, return to school later in life, or redefine your goals as you grow. Success is not always linear, and there is strength in continuing to pursue your ambitions despite obstacles or delays.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges for me has been adapting to change. I think when you become accustomed to doing things a certain way for a long period of time, it can be difficult when processes, environments, or expectations suddenly shift. Change often requires you to adjust your entire mindset and learn how to navigate unfamiliar situations, which can be challenging at times.

I also believe this is especially true when transitioning into a new career path or pursuing opportunities outside of your comfort zone. Stepping into something different requires flexibility, patience, and a willingness to continuously learn and adapt. While change can feel uncomfortable initially, I’ve learned that it is often necessary for both personal and professional growth.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my professional and personal life are integrity, consistency, resilience, and growth. I believe integrity is extremely important because your character and how you treat people matter just as much as your accomplishments. I value being honest, dependable, and maintaining professionalism in the way I carry myself and interact with others.

Consistency is also important to me because I believe success is built through discipline and showing up even during difficult seasons. I take pride in being someone who continues to work toward goals regardless of obstacles or setbacks.

I also value resilience because life and career paths are not always straightforward. Being able to adapt, persevere, and continue moving forward through challenges has shaped a large part of who I am today.

Lastly, I value growth in every aspect of life. I am always looking for opportunities to learn, improve myself, expand my knowledge, and evolve both personally and professionally. I believe growth is what creates new opportunities and allows people to reach their full potential.
