About Ashley
Ashley Roseboro is a Product Manager based in Washington, DC, with seven years of experience in product management. She studied neuroscience in her undergraduate studies and initially aspired to a career in medicine but pivoted after realizing she did not enjoy lab research or the path to medical school. Ashley began her professional journey as a product analyst, an entry-level role in the field, where she observed customer interviews and learned systems quickly. She advanced to product management, starting at a kidney care company where she took on leadership responsibilities early when her manager went on leave. She now works in the utilities industry, collaborating with user experience designers and engineers to innovate systems that help users handle pipeline issues, telecommunications, and electric lines efficiently and safely. Ashley emphasizes listening to users to understand their problems and meeting them where they are in terms of technology comfort, often incorporating AI or machine learning to simplify processes.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
One thing I would say is to listen first. Once you feel comfortable with listening, definitely shoot your shot. Most of the time even the highest up don't know what they're doing at times. Being comfortable knowing that you don't have all the answers and can still get the job done is something I've really pushed on. I did it scared and because I did it scared I was still able to advance.
