Her Story
About Ashley
Ashley Kanaman has spent approximately 10 years in the equine and livestock fields. After growing up as a livestock kid and attending college for livestock judging, she entered the horse show world in March 2016. She has been employed full-time with the National Cutting Horse Association for just over three years, where her responsibilities include approving shows for secretaries throughout the United States and internationally to confirm adherence to all rules and guidelines. Ashley also serves as an AQHA secretary and participates on committees with the American Quarter Horse Association. In addition, she runs her own business, Maine Equine Events, which hosts three AQHA ropings each year. Her work is driven by a passion for the equine and livestock industries and the opportunity to connect with people from varied backgrounds.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do what you love and stick with it and it will all work out in the end. Don't stress over the small things.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Getting to make all the connections with all the people. Nobody's the same and just getting to hear everybody's stories.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Getting to do what I love, be in the equine field as well as some with the livestock side of things, and just getting to meet all the new people and making all those connections with everybody.
