Her Interview

Ten minutes with ashley

01What do you attribute your success to?

My support system of family and friends cheering me on. My kids are supportive too, asking if I need help with homework and keeping siblings quiet so I can study.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Follow your dream of what you wanted to do. It doesn't matter that it might take forever, like four years in school. Four years passes by so quickly. Don't be afraid of the time.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Take things in stride. In healthcare you come across providers and people who are going to test you and frustrate you. Take it in stride, not personally. Keep going with your goals. Karma will get you where you need to be if you work towards it and don't let other things get in your way.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Having someone see your worth in your position as program supervisor. You have to prove yourself to get to the rank you want, like operations manager or director of operations. The challenge is having someone see your abilities, not just what they see on paper. I go above and beyond my role to stand out.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty and accountability. You can't learn from mistakes without taking accountability for that mistake. And just being honest with what really happened.
