Her Story

About Ashley

Ashley L. P. Marcos is a senior communications and public affairs strategist with nearly a decade of experience translating complex issues into compelling stories that resonate with journalists, regulators, corporate leaders, and consumers. She currently serves as Senior Manager at Elkordy Global Strategies, specializing in media relations, regulatory communications, crisis communications, and brand reputation. Her career has included communications roles with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Diablos Rojos del México, Knight Strategic Communications, and Elkordy Global Strategies, giving Ashley broad experience across sports, politics, lifestyle, entertainment, fashion, and consumer industries.

Ashley has managed high-profile communications initiatives and secured significant national and international media exposure throughout her career. She served as lead press coordinator for former President Joe Biden’s first public address following his presidency, coordinating media operations and more than 20 on-site interviews in a Secret Service-secured environment. The effort generated more than 2,330 media placements and reached an estimated 8.7 billion journalists globally. She has also supported whistleblower attorneys involved in major False Claims Act matters and helped shape national public-affairs messaging, including an op-ed in The Hill addressing how apparel tariffs affected families during prom season. Her work demonstrates her ability to connect policy, business, and human-interest narratives in ways that capture public attention.

Ashley holds a Master of Public Policy from Arizona State University, where her capstone research examined how mental health emergencies can be routed to appropriate responders rather than defaulting to law enforcement. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from the same university and completed LVMH certificates in Creation & Branding and Operations & Supply Chain. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Ashley brings an international perspective shaped by professional experience across the United States, Mexico, Canada, South Africa, and Europe. Beyond her communications career, she is committed to community service, including advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and volunteer work supporting children receiving medical care.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ashley

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my strong support system, especially my mom, who has always been my greatest defender and supporter. She taught me resilience after my dad passed away, and I’ve carried that strength through many career pivots. I also give myself grace when things don’t go as planned, trust in myself and a higher power, and believe that the right path will open when I keep moving forward.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to speak up, know my value, and make sure I’m being compensated fairly. Building a successful career takes grit, but it’s equally important to maintain financial stability while making time to enjoy life. I believe in showing up with intention and excellence, while also knowing when it’s time to move on if an organization no longer values my contributions.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to have the audacity to believe you belong in the space. Put in the work early, stay curious, and continuously build your skills. I also encourage women to learn and embrace AI so they can stay ahead of the curve and create new opportunities for themselves.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is keeping up with AI while navigating a traditionally male-dominated industry, long hours, and the risk of burnout. Protecting my mental health and managing my time are essential. At the same time, this field offers incredible opportunities, including international travel, building a strong network, and connecting with influential and well-known people.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are honesty, integrity, kindness, and authenticity. I believe in being genuine, treating others with respect and compassion, and staying true to my principles in both my professional and personal life.
