Ashley Moudry is a seasoned ICT industry professional and consultant specializing in fiber optic and copper network infrastructure. Currently with Five Points Infrastructure Services, Ashley brings a highly developed skill set in network installation, troubleshooting, and project management. Her meticulous attention to detail, commitment to industry standards, and strong work ethic have made her a trusted contributor and team leader across diverse ICT projects.

Ashley’s journey into the ICT cabling infrastructure field began unexpectedly. She initially pursued a business degree but discovered her passion for technology after taking a computer class that reignited her interest in IT. Encouraged by her teacher, Ashley shifted her focus, participating in SkillsUSA competitions, where she excelled in cabling despite limited prior experience. Placing third nationally in her second year, she earned a part-time position on her college’s infrastructure team and later became an adjunct instructor for a cabling course. After facing professional challenges and stepping away for a period, she returned to the field through BICSI, reconnecting with the community and mentors who supported her path back into ICT.

Today, Ashley combines technical expertise with mentorship and professional leadership. She serves as a Cabling Skills Challenge judge and PDC Secretary within BICSI and is actively involved in Women in BICSI, advocating for inclusion and growth in the field. Her current role at Five Points allows her to work from home, balancing a fulfilling career with homeschooling her children alongside her husband. Recognized for her dedication and impact, including being named the 2020 BICSI Emerging ICT Professional of the Year, Ashley continues to advance ICT infrastructure while inspiring the next generation of professionals.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I would attribute my success to extreme determination and all of those who have supported me, especially the people I currently work for. Cyndi Garrison and Joel DeNeuf are the ones who reached out to me and gave me this job opportunity. They're the ones who made it possible for me to get back into BICSI, while in my previous career job, it was more of a fight - I had to beg to do it, versus being asked to do it. I want to contribute a lot of my success towards those who have supported me, mainly through BICSI. BICSI's been a huge part of my career, and I will tell anybody, I don't care how scary it seems, if you get the opportunity to say YES! I'd also like to add Richard Anderson to the list - he's the one who started it all for me actually, gave me my first job, introduced me to BICSI. He was my first boss at the college. The first one to challenge me and show me what can be possible in this career field.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don't be afraid to be different. Sometimes it's what's needed. Don't be afraid to stand out, that's why I approached you. - a man who worked with Cisco that spoke to me at one of my first BICSI events.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Make that choice and go with it. Don't stop. Don't give it up. No matter how hard or how scary it is, because it is. Life is a battle, it can be scary to take the risk. Just do it. Because just doing it is what got it for me. Don't give up on your goals and dreams, especially when it gets hard. It is possible to have a family and career and be happy. The uncomfortable and awkward feelings can be used in your favor, don't let them hold you back. Goals/achievements worth having, aren't going to be the easy ones to achieve.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

We need more youth entering the field, more women to be confident in the field. I feel like the biggest challenge for this industry is the awareness of the different areas outside of the commonly known parts of IT, such as programing. Awareness of the industry at a younger age is a big challenge. One of my goals is to find a way to bring more youth interest in to the ICT industry.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Taking ownership of one's own actions, whether good or not so good. It will get you more trust and respect from others. Being honest and respectful to others. This is something I try to teach my children every time there's an opportunity. This is something I don't see a lot in the world outside of the professional settings I've experienced with SkillsUSA and BICSI over the years.
