Ashley Reid is a highly accomplished early childhood education professional, specializing in learning design, professional development, and educational leadership. She currently serves as a Learning and Design Specialist at Sage Professional Development and is a 2023 Cato College of Education Doctoral Fellow at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. With extensive experience in instructional design, organizational training, and strategic planning, Ashley has successfully facilitated professional development for educators across diverse populations, leveraging research-based methodologies to enhance adult learning and drive impactful educational outcomes.
Over the course of her career, Ashley has held multiple leadership roles, including Deputy Director of Early Learning at The Hunt Institute and Professional Development Specialist at the Child Care Resource Center. She has provided coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to early childhood educators, focusing on social-emotional development, inclusive practices, anti-bias approaches, and policy advocacy. Her expertise extends to program evaluation, curriculum design, and grant writing, ensuring that education leaders and teachers are equipped to provide high-quality learning experiences for young children.
Ashley’s commitment to early childhood education is also reflected in her long-standing volunteer work and professional memberships. She has been an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for over a decade and contributes to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., advocating for civil rights, social action, and community engagement. Passionate about supporting educators and children alike, Ashley continues to shape early learning practices, policies, and professional standards while pursuing her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction.

My advice to young women entering this field is to follow your passion and serve with purpose—when you do it for the love, the rewards come back to you in abundance.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field are addressing staffing shortages, improving compensation, and ensuring all families have access to quality early education, while supporting and elevating the work of early educators.

The values most important to me in my work and personal life are joy, curiosity, growth, and balance, both in nurturing others and in pursuing my own passions.
