What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to persistence, being open-minded, and my background in anthropology. My training taught me to understand people from their perspective, which allows me to connect authentically with clients and researchers. By stepping into their shoes and taking the time to hear their needs, I’ve been able to provide meaningful solutions rather than just selling products.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To not feel like you have to copy someone else to be successful. You are the writer and master of your story, and like any story there are plot twists, places where you can change direction and try again.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise being flexible and adaptable. Sales can be unpredictable and overwhelming, and there will be frequent rejections. It’s important not to take things too seriously and to go with the flow. Embrace the unpredictability, focus on connecting with people, and celebrate the small successes along the way.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The challenges in sales include unpredictability and frequent rejection. However, the opportunities lie in building strong networks, connecting scientists across disciplines, and helping researchers find the right tools to advance their work, making a meaningful impact on scientific discovery.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Empathy, open-mindedness, helping others, and maintaining time for family are the values I hold most important. These guide my interactions with colleagues, clients, and my approach to mentoring and volunteering.
