About Ashley
I currently manage the strategic finance FP&A team at my company, which actually oversees three different businesses, so I have ownership over three P&Ls with really interesting and different business models. My day-to-day varies a lot - there are the regular FP&A-type reporting responsibilities, but what really drew me to this role is working on our three-year medium outlook roadmap. Big picture, what I'm trying to do is ensure we're growing on the top line while managing our margin across all three businesses. It involves a lot of meetings, relationship management, modeling, and technical work, all aimed at driving business outcomes and influencing different parts of the organization. One example of our work is our debt consolidation business, where we help folks struggling with compounding credit card interest cycles. We step in at people's lowest points and help them find the light at the end of the tunnel. After about 8 months of success in our debt resolution program, we graduate clients into a loan that consolidates all their debts, which continues to accelerate their path to regaining financial independence. I find this work incredibly fulfilling because we're accessing a part of the credit market that's not typically accessible, and we're really helping normal people get their independence back. I think financial independence is especially critical for women.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I'm very intentional about being curious and always wanting to learn - every move I make in my career has a reason behind it. I'm a people-first person, even in my finance role, because I believe the numbers come second to the human impact. I prioritize wellness and taking care of myself, because I've learned I'm a very stressed individual who absorbs a lot, so I need to create space for different types of rest to show up as my best self. I also value stepping outside my comfort zone and practicing being uncomfortable, which is actually one of the reasons I wanted to do this interview. I like being the underdog because I've learned that even if people don't think I can do something, I can do it. And I'm passionate about financial independence, especially for women, because I think it's really critical. The work I do helps normal people regain that independence after coming out of really dark places, and that mission-driven aspect is what makes me feel fulfilled.
