Her Story

About Ashley

Ashley (Ash) Spoto, M.Ed, is an education enthusiast and lifelong learner with a passion for developing people, education, and fostering professional growth. Currently a Director- People, Development, & Learning at L’Oréal, she has a proven ability to collaborate across multiple teams, streamline procedures, and enhance learning within business. Ash combines her expertise in education with corporate learning, enabling colleagues and partners to grow their skills, gain confidence, and succeed in their careers. In addition to her corporate role, she served as an adjunct professor at Susquehanna University, teaching courses in retail and visual merchandising, and shares her knowledge to prepare the next generation of professionals. Ash’s career has spanned roles in Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Learning and Development within L’Oréal and The Estée Lauder Companies, where she developed programs to support onboarding, career development, and functional upskilling. Her approach is guided by a philosophy she learned early in her career: by the time you leave a job, the role should have evolved because of the growth and impact you brought to it. This mindset drives her to continuously innovate, teach, and mentor across industries. A graduate of Susquehanna University with a self-designed bachelor’s degree in Luxury Brand Communications and Marketing, Ash has completed her Master of Education in Adult and Continuing Education at Rutgers Graduate School of Education in August of 2025. Beyond her professional work, she is deeply committed to leadership and service in fraternity and sorority life, as well as higher education communities, holding leadership roles with Beate Theta Pi. Her work is fueled by a dedication to lifelong learning, meaningful connection, and helping others translate knowledge into action for real-world impact.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ashley

01What do you attribute your success to?

"The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of them all" - Mulan

I attribute my success to my resilience and support from others. I have been fortunate to have mentor, coaches and friends who have supported me in my journey. without them, I would not be where I am today.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received was, "Don't manifest it. DO IT!" I believe in not only thinking about what my next goal or achievement is; I put in the work and continue to pursue it with curiosity and commitment to reaching that goal everyday.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to recognize that while imposter syndrome may never fully disappear, it should never define your worth. Remember: you haven't just 'found' yourself in the room; you have earned your place there. Acknowledge those feelings, but don't let them discourage you. Keep showing up, keep working through it, and trust in your value every single day.
