About Ashley
I've been in the legal field for about 19 to 20 years, with approximately 15 of those years specifically focused on litigation. I started my career as a research assistant in legal, then moved into paralegal work, and eventually specialized in litigation. Currently, I'm a litigation paralegal overseeing all of the Texas litigation for my law firm, which is a plaintiff's firm. This means we file all of the complaints for those who have been injured. Most of my day consists of reviewing court dockets, going over legal strategy, drafting motions and pleadings, and handling lots of discovery for active litigation. In a nutshell, my work involves research and writing, drafting, and strategizing. I'm also a certified paralegal through NALA (National American Legal Assistance). Beyond my paralegal work, I'm currently a law student. I'm finishing my master's in theology this year, and I'm preparing to return to law school in fall 2027 to complete my J.D. Getting into law school while being married with 5 kids was my proudest professional achievement, and it's exactly why I'm adamant about returning because once you get in, you have to go back. I'm also an ordained pastor as of 2012 with the Apostolic Church, and I'm part of the Christian Legal Society as a law student with South Texas College of Law. I have a background in acting and one of my goals is to get into legal commentary reporting, where I can come in and do segments to chat about litigation and other legal topics.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say be a lifetime learner. That's the best advice. Be a lifetime learner. The best attorneys, the best legal people are people that are eager to get down to the bottom of the truth, and in law, it literally changes daily, right? So you might think you know something yesterday, and you were up on it, and then you wake up, and now the law is completely different, and you're wrong, right? So it's a humbling field. So I would say just be a lifetime learner.
