About Ashley
Ashley Webb serves as Deputy Director at the Office of Violence Prevention in Louisville, Kentucky. She began her public sector career in 2017 working in public schools as a family resource coordinator in Title I schools, where she helped reduce barriers such as food insecurity and domestic violence for students and families. After going back to school for sociology in her 30s following her experience as a foster parent, she moved into state government around 2019, first as an advisor on vulnerable children and later in the Office of Energy Policy where she led statewide energy affordability work groups and advanced manufactured housing as an affordable option. In her current role, she has focused on reducing violence in Louisville, achieving significant decreases including a 40 percent reduction in youth violence year-to-date and the lowest rates in a decade. Throughout her career, Webb has prioritized elevating youth voices in policy and programs to support kids and families facing systemic challenges.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
As a woman that did not go back to school until my 30s and completely switched career paths, I would say that if you have an opportunity to follow your passion, do it. Because that's when your motivation sticks around even through the hard patches. I will never regret taking the leap from a safe career path to going for something that my heart wanted.
