Her Story

About Ashley

I started my career in the financial services industry in January 2026, though I spent the previous seven years working as a legal assistant and case manager at different law firms in the Birmingham area. What inspired me to make this transition was my love of challenges and my desire to become an entrepreneur. I wanted to be able to build my business from the ground up and dictate when I clock in and clock out, rather than just working for a company where the business is already established. Now, I help people prepare for retirement by educating them on how money actually works and how they can grow their wealth to have extra income beyond just depending on a 401(k). I set people up with IULs and help those who have worked at previous jobs and had a 401(k) plan but didn't move the money when they left. I get them set up with FIAs so they can move the money and never have to worry about moving it again - it goes wherever they go, and the money is there ready when they retire. My most notable professional achievement so far has been obtaining my life insurance license, which opened up opportunities for me that I never dreamed of.

Ten minutes with Ashley

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my dedication, my hard work, and also my upbringing. My parents always pushed me and my brother to whatever we get into, go for being the best at it. They instilled in me the drive to excel and give my all to everything I pursue, which has been fundamental to achieving my goals.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received was to show up every day with a positive attitude. It may go good, it may go bad during the workday, but remain positive at all times. This advice has helped me navigate the ups and downs of my career and maintain the right mindset no matter what challenges come my way.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Come in with an open mind, be ready to take a lot of notes and learn. Do not think that you have to know everything about finance to start. Everyone is a baby learner in the beginning, but stick with it. Over time, you'll be surprised how much knowledge you actually ascertained, and you're able to help other families. So, basically, just don't give up. Stay with it. It's gonna be hard, but stay with it, and you'll be successful.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is basically starting out and ascertaining clients. That's the biggest challenge when you're new to the financial services field and building your business from the ground up.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In my work, I would say just being at a company, or working with a company, that just values you as an employee. I just want to be valued. And in my personal life, just being appreciated and people seeing my heart working. They don't have to tell me every day, but just acknowledging it means a lot to me.
