Her Story
About Asia
I provide audit and assurance services to clients, which is really important right now with a lot of these players trying to go public through IPOs and SPACs. Making sure their financial statements are credentialized by someone that works at a big four accounting firm becomes really critical in that process for those companies to go public successfully. It's really upholding the capital markets and making sure that ecosystem holds together and has that level of credibility. My role at this stage in my career is managing a large group of individuals that help me get to the goals that my clients need. My work is all client-facing and very client service driven. I help structure out project plans for my teams, but I also am almost a trusted advisor for my clients. In complex transactions and complex accounting matters, that's when I come in and help provide expertise there, rather than the day-to-day work of just getting through the auditing. My role now is more strategic in that sense. I'm also a mom of two, and I'm navigating an industry that is very much heavily male-driven. It is a bit of a boys club when you think about traditional financial services and asset managers, and then also just the whole crypto AI space. Carving myself out and making sure that I have value that I'm bringing to the table kind of all plays into that, and balancing work and life and all of that plays a lot into my day and my outlook.

Ten minutes with Asia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say that's the women in my family. I come from a strong line of women where my grandfather passed away at a very young age, and so my grandma had to take care of eight daughters all by herself at a very young age. And then my aunts, and then my mom kind of grew up in an environment where you couldn't depend on a guy or a man to kind of be the breadwinner and all that kind of stuff. And so, there's this sense of autonomy and independence and making sure you're self-sufficient, but also a strong, empowered woman who has a voice and who can step into the arena without fear. For me, all of that was a strong inspiration to where I am today. But with that comes a lot of responsibility, too, right? And so, for all these people before you have sacrificed a lot so that I could have the opportunity I have today. Am I making the most of it?
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I think for me, it was if you can't be in the trenches with the people that work for you, you're not gonna be the best leader. A lot of my mentors that I look up to a lot did this by action, and I try to follow in those footsteps.
