Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of self-directed learning, hands-on experience, and formal education. I taught myself tools like Photoshop and Illustrator, gained practical skills through internships and freelance projects, and benefited greatly from mentors and job opportunities that allowed me to apply what I was learning. Completing my BFA in Arts and Visual Technology with a concentration in graphic design further solidified my expertise and prepared me for a professional career in the field.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to know your niche before you graduate and seek out practical experience while still in school. Advocate for yourself confidently, and don’t be discouraged if others underestimate your knowledge or skills—your expertise and persistence will speak for themselves.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The field of graphic design is becoming increasingly competitive, especially with the widespread adoption of accessible design tools like Canva and Adobe Express, as well as the growing influence of AI. At the same time, there are significant opportunities for designers who clearly define their niche and invest in upskilling—particularly in areas like UX/UI design—where specialized expertise is highly valued.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me in both my work and personal life include continual learning, cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset, supporting small businesses, embracing creativity, mentoring others, and advocating for myself.
