Her Interview

Ten minutes with Aspasia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my close circle, my tribe - family and friends. Your support system plays a major part in success, especially in your career. You need that soundboard outside and inside your line of business.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received was from a manager early on who said don't let others make you feel like you do not belong. He advocated for women in the room, for me to be part of the role and get promoted. Be present, be there, don't let others put you down, and have perseverance.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women to support each other because we need that crew sense and camaraderie. Women have been released into board meetings but we've lost supporting each other. The camaraderie men have is stronger, and if we want to succeed we need to support each other. It's not only about being the best, it's about supporting others the best you can. Everything else you can learn with perseverance.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It's a very competitive field being automated with new technology, so less day to day activity, more strategic lead. There will be more women that can lead and provide complex structures and articulate what AI is trying to take over. Opportunities: as the world becomes smaller and grows richer there's more money than ever, opportunity for investment, helping individuals or companies with wealth invest and maintain capital.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Positivity is huge, it will fuel you to do things when it's raining outside. Don't be complacent because then you become stagnant. Able and equal - my father raised us that women were not beneath men, you can do it, it doesn't matter who you are, if you set your mind to it you can achieve what you want. Every day is a different day.
