Her Interview

Ten minutes with Audra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience, purpose, and my commitment to creating an empire for my family. My transition into insurance allowed me to combine my passion for helping people with my goal of building financial security and long-term opportunity. As a single mother and widow raising twin daughters, I am driven to create a lasting legacy, provide greater freedom and security for my family, and help businesses protect their employees through meaningful benefits. I believe success is ultimately about having the freedom and resources to care for the people I love while making a positive impact on others.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to stay humble, keep learning, and let my actions speak for themselves. One of my mentors, Toddy Pitard, has shown me that true leadership isn’t about titles or recognition—it’s about serving others, listening, and helping the people around you succeed. His example reminds me to remain grounded while pursuing my goals and to measure success not only by what I achieve, but by how I treat others and the positive impact I make.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to look beyond the numbers and pay close attention to the people and culture around you. Choose an organization that invests in coaching, supports its employees, and builds a team where people genuinely want to stay and grow. Most importantly, look for realistic opportunities and support that align with your individual circumstances and goals rather than relying on income projections that may not reflect your reality.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge and opportunity in my field is navigating change while continuing to grow. Insurance and financial services have given me the opportunity to build a meaningful career while helping families and businesses prepare for the unexpected. I’ve learned to view challenges as opportunities to learn, adapt, and become more confident. Every career decision and obstacle has strengthened my resilience and motivated me to create greater financial security, freedom, and opportunity for my family.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are honesty, integrity, and open communication. I believe in addressing difficult conversations with tact and having them early, before small issues become bigger problems. I also value transparency about my intentions and strive to approach relationships without competition, focusing instead on what is best for both myself and the people around me.
