About Avis
Avis Domingue is a Consultant Dietitian Nutritionist with over four decades of experience in nutrition and dietetics. Based in Lafayette, Louisiana, she has worked across diverse settings including school food service, medical hospitals where she served as chief clinical dietitian and food service director, long-term care, and assisted living facilities. She also taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette while pursuing her master's degree and completing a dietetic internship now affiliated with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. For the past 19 years, Domingue has provided consulting services through home health, including with LHC Group, now Optum LHC Group, where she conducted in-home assessments, education on diabetes, hypertension, and weight management, and developed Medical Nutrition Therapy profiles. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator and a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise them to try to learn as much as they can, and then if there's some specialties that they would like to do. I did Certified Diabetes Educator. And the more that they know they can use it for their home and families and for themselves as they age.
