About Ayleen
Ayleen Yabes has been in the aviation industry for 20 years, beginning her career with Southwest Airlines in 2007 after relocating from the Philippines to the United States. She started at the San Jose station and moved to Sacramento in 2018. Currently serving as an Above the Wing Supervisor, she is pursuing her pilot license and commercial remote pilot license while running a financial education business inspired by her personal experiences. Ayleen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Diplomatic Affairs and completed Foreign Language studies in the Philippines, along with multiple leadership certificates. She belongs to Girls Off the Fly, Women in Aviation, the Professional Asian Pilots Association, and SAC99 Flying Panthers. Ayleen attributes her success to her family and life goals, values discipline and consistency, and is dedicated to community work and helping families through nonprofit initiatives.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my family and my goals in life. My family has been my foundation, and pursuing my goals keeps me driven.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just follow your dreams, follow your heart, and really be able to manifest it in the world. It's okay to dream and pursue what you want.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Aviation is very competitive, especially for women and Asian women wanting to become pilots. The challenge is being considered in the field, but it won't stop me from becoming who I want to be. The opportunity is to be authentic and share my story to inspire others.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Discipline and consistency are most important. If you are consistent in your goal and have mental discipline, you can achieve anything.
