Her Story
About Aziza
Aziza Wanni founded The Potion Studio in Los Angeles in 2021. The brand creates minimalist, climate-adaptive hair care essentials such as shampoos, conditioners, and leave-in treatments designed specifically for curls, coils, and waves. Wanni's passion for simplifying textured hair routines stems from her personal experiences and her belief in using fewer high-quality ingredients. Her products are now available at Nordstrom in 25 doors and Ulta in 400 stores. Beyond her business, Wanni supports women who have experienced domestic violence through her own foundation and contributes to initiatives including Tea Party for Black Girls, Just for Success, and Hope in a Suitcase. She attributes her success to positive feedback from women, particularly those who are Black or have mixed children, who report feeling seen and finding their hair more manageable.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Aziza
01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, the feedback from women, and especially women that are Black or have mixed kids. They always say the media made them feel like their 4C hair wasn't manageable, but my products make their life easier and they feel seen. Reviews and feedback like that keep me going even on bad weeks.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just start and make something. We can always make it perfect later. Nothing is a hard launch date. You start building your business the minute you think about it, even scrolling on Pinterest making a mood board counts. Just make it exist first.
