About Bailey
Bailey Campbell serves as an animal specialist and project manager in a NASA contracting role, where she integrates science experiments and payloads onto the International Space Station. She has spent three years in this position, following a path that began as a pre-medical student who took a gap year to conduct animal research involving vascular surgery on mice and pigs. After leaving that role to get married and returning home, she applied for and accepted the NASA position, initially supporting animal research in space with astronauts before shifting to cancer therapeutics research using nanoparticles and physics experiments. In her daily work, she attends meetings as part of the operations team, translates scientific procedures into International Space Station tools, ensures requirements are met, and manages integration processes that can span up to three years before launch on vehicles such as SpaceX. She earned a Bachelor's of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and received the JSC Group Achievement Award from the Johnson Space Center. She maintains memberships in the Alumni Association and Alpha Chi Omega, and previously volunteered with Smile a Mile, a pediatric cancer organization in Alabama that provides camps for children.
