About Bambi

Bambi Rackley is an emerging author and criminal justice advocate. After years of self-employment in labor-intensive jobs such as cleaning houses, painting, and yard work, she recently graduated with an associate's degree in criminal justice from Bryant and Stratton College. Motivated by her sons' experiences with the criminal justice system, she now focuses on advocacy to support inmates and their families. Since 2024, she has worked as a self-employed book author, completing the first draft of her psychological thriller novel When Shadows Whisper, which she is editing for self-publishing and marketing. She is also building an interactive true crime murder mystery series for YouTube and TikTok that engages viewers as detectives. Rackley attributes her success to pure will and determination, especially after turning 50, and values purpose in helping others along with her family above all.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Bambi

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would have to say pure will and determination. Like, when I turned 50, I was determined for my life to be different than it was the last 50 years. And my children. So, they've been through some obstacles, they know what obstacles I've been through, and I wanted them to know, and anybody else around me to know, that no matter what your life was, it doesn't have to be the same thing, it's your choice. I smoked for over 38 years... and I quit when I turned 50, and I haven't turned back.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell them to do it, to go for it. No matter how old you are, no matter whether you believe in yourself or not, whether you can do it, just do it, because I come from a background where I didn't realize I had a choice where I could go to college, because I never thought I could afford it. And I never thought you know, I always thought I'd be in the everyday job. I come from a background where I do did jobs where that were mostly men doing jobs. Dirty, stinky jobs. I would say go for it, you know? There's plenty of opportunity in it, and just you could help people, you know? If that's a desire, then it's a perfect thing to get into, because, there's a lot of people that need help.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My work life, I would say purpose? I value being able to have a purpose with helping people, and giving people hope, where maybe they don't have that much, or none at times. And, as far as my personal life, I value my family the most.
