Barb Guarente

I am a relationship-driven development and events professional with over two decades of experience in nonprofit fundraising, community engagement, and program management. I currently serve as Major Gifts Manager at Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a role I have held since May 2023, where I cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, develop fundraising strategies, and advance the mission of serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness and poverty.

Prior to this role, I served as Field Trip Coordinator at Commonwealth Charter Academy Cyber Charter School for nearly one year, where I created and coordinated three or more weekly family-focused field trips across Lebanon, Lancaster, and York counties, strengthening community connections by building positive relationships with CCA families.

I spent over twenty years with Lower Paxton Township in progressively responsible roles, including Marketing and Special Events Program Manager and Parks and Recreation Program Manager, where I managed marketing, special events, and parks and recreation programs for over eighteen years as a coordinator and over two years as a program manager. In these roles, I developed and executed events, built community relationships, and managed programs that enhanced quality of life for residents.

Earlier in my career, I served as an HR IT Recruiter at Vanguard for over seven years, where I developed my foundation in human resources, recruiting, and personnel management.

Across my career in nonprofit development, event management, and community service, my work has been driven by a commitment to building relationships that strengthen organizations and communities. Whether I am cultivating major donors, coordinating family field trips, or managing community events, I bring a people-centered approach, organizational excellence, and a deep dedication to making a positive impact. I am proud of the work I have done and excited to continue serving my community through my work at Bethesda Mission.
