Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to Jesus Christ. His guidance, strength, and grace have been the foundation of everything I’ve accomplished. In all my life accomplishments and failures, Jesus Christ has never left me. Always be humble, pray, repent to Him, honor Him, serve Him, read His word, and give Him more time than you give the world.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to be diverse—both in my skills and my career perspectives. Embracing versatility has allowed me to adapt, grow, and seize opportunities across different career areas. Sometimes money isn’t everything…..Don’t miss important moments to be there for your children, family and close friends.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just because you’re not knowledgeable about something doesn't mean you can't cross over into a different career. Have faith in yourself at all ages and seasons in your life. Talk to people, you've never talked to before and know that constructive criticism is good for you.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges is getting corporations to realize that long term experience and tenure of a career driven woman, and especially as a professional black woman is priceless. Companies need to take a deeper dive into the substance of the person. and Look deeper than, what’s on the surface of the resume. Also, take a chance on hiring someone outside of the box.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me, both in my work and personal life, is maintaining a healthy work–life balance. I believe that true success comes from excelling professionally while also making time for personal growth, spiritual rest in devotion, and acknowledging value in meaningful healthy relationships. Thus far, Faith in God has always yielded the greatest balance of happiness for me in this current life. God is our greatest benefit. Our greatest successes are achieved only by way of Him. He lives inside of us! Let Him shine in and out of you everyday! Show His Love to someone everyday. A smile, a hug, a conversation, hold a door open, let some in a hurry check out in front of you. Hire someone when they are trying to climb back up from a job loss. It’s the small things that matter the most! 😊
