What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, determination, and a commitment to continuous growth. As a single mother working in the medical field, I started my career in the military. At 29, I realized I needed to further my education to advance, so I went back to school and earned my associate’s degree, which allowed me to work in clinical laboratories. I gained hands-on experience fixing lab equipment and training staff, initially thinking I would pursue lab management.
Over time, my path evolved. I became a small business owner, working closely with physicians to help small laboratories remain compliant, operational, and cost-efficient. I continued my education, earning my bachelor’s degree at 49 and my master’s degree two years later.
My journey has taught me that with determination and perseverance, anything is possible. I want every woman to know that they can pursue their goals and achieve whatever they set their mind to, regardless of the challenges along the way.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to give 100 percent in everything you do, no matter the task or the role. Success isn’t about shortcuts or waiting for the perfect opportunity—it’s about showing up fully, committing to learning, and consistently putting forth your best effort. I’ve found that when you give everything you have, doors open, people notice your dedication, and opportunities arise that you never imagined.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: keep going, no matter the obstacles. Anything is possible if you are determined and willing to work for it. Don’t make excuses—if you truly want it, you will find a way to achieve it.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in my field right now is helping small laboratories remain open and operational. Many face regulatory pressures, high operational costs, and staffing challenges. My work focuses on supporting these labs to stay compliant, cost-efficient, and sustainable, which ultimately ensures that communities continue to have access to essential clinical services.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me in both my work and personal life are balance, curiosity, and growth. I strive to approach every task with integrity and dedication, while also making time to explore my passions, like travel and gardening, which help me recharge, stay inspired, and maintain perspective.
