About Barbara

I have spent 17 years developing expertise in accounting and finance, touching on many different aspects including auditing, management consulting, finance transformation, energy trading, and now entrepreneurship. I started at Ernst & Young (EY), a public accounting firm, where I did auditing services in the Channel 1. Then I moved to management consulting, serving Fortune 100 companies with their finance process optimization - that was a big range of activities including finance transformation, process improvement, internal controls, and whatever was needed in the finance section. Then I moved in-house with the idea of taking some of the structure that I've designed to the finish line of execution. I started at EDF where I was a finance projects lead manager, and then I moved to an oil and gas company where I was leading the subs and operational risk function, reporting to the sample. From there, I went to running my firm now, BSK Advisors, where I provide accounting and finance and business transformation services for small and medium organizations and corporations. It's a boutique firm that is focusing on accounting services and fractional activities, including fractional CFO services and occasionally some tax services for the smaller sole proprietorships. One thing that is dear to my heart is teaching - I've taught accounting and finance classes at the Rio Grande Valley campus. It's very rewarding to me because education is something that is dear to me, and although it's not my main career, it's very important for me to bring up the next generation of accounting and finance leaders and equip them with the tools.
