Her Interview
Ten minutes with Barbara
01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, maybe going through so much that I've gone through, I think sometimes when you go through something bad it helps push you to something you really want. I was paying... I mean, I'm happy now, I've gone through all the pain and all that, so I am pretty laser-focused now, but I think all that drive was, I don't want to be in this position again. I don't want to be in this position again, so it really pushes you to become what you want. And if you see where you want to be, it kind of helps you get there as well, because you have to picture yourself in that life. It's passion and drive, but I think sometimes people that go through a lot of pain turn out to be successful.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
If you really do love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. It really is true, and even the companies that I choose to work with, I actually love the product. So I think that once you really are engaged in what you're really doing, and not just have a job, but have something that you're passionate about. Real success is when you have actual passion about your craft, no matter what.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Learn your craft. Stay true to what you are and what you're doing, but learn your craft, and don't compare yourself to other people's work. And try not to get discouraged. That's when people, you know, people online can be pretty mean, but just stay true to what you really believe in, and learn the craft from inside out. Learn the ins and outs.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Competition, you know, in the AI industry, software creation, you know, there's a lot of competition, and like I said, I just stayed true to my style and my niche, and I just hope that it gets where I need to go.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My values, communication. I think, communication, a smooth workflow, I like things nice and smooth and not complicated and messy. So I think a good, strong communication with your clients is very important.
