Her Interview

Ten minutes with Basanti

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the people around me, especially mentors and women who believed in me, and my own work ethic. I had a manager at Amazon named Miley who gave me confidence by saying I was too fast for the room, helping me realize it's not always my fault when ideas aren't immediately accepted.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received was to pause and think. My mentor advised that it's better to spend time at the start thinking through a project rather than rushing into the first idea, as it leads to better solutions and playing the long game.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value learning from people the most, both at work and in personal life. At work, I enjoy meeting customers and team members to understand different perspectives and solve problems with empathy and curiosity. In personal life, having friends from diverse backgrounds adds color and keeps me mentally healthy by getting out of my own bubble.
