I attribute my success to a strong work ethic instilled in me growing up on a dairy farm, which taught me perseverance and dedication from a young age. Throughout my career—from Hallmark, where I worked my way up over 30 years, to my current rewarding role caring for sisters with dementia—I’ve learned that hard work, patience, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities have been key to achieving my goals.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always keep my skills sharp, because staying prepared opens doors to new opportunities.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field right now are ensuring the sisters have everything they need—clean clothes, proper care, transportation to Mass, doctor appointments, and therapy—while providing compassionate, consistent support.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in my work and personal life are nurturing and growth—whether it’s caring for others, reading, gardening, planting, or preserving the fruits of my labor through canning.
