Her Story
About Beatriz
Beatriz Grinon serves as registrar and parent liaison at OUs Elementary, a role she has held for three years after beginning her career in education as a Miami-Dade school volunteer. Her path was shaped by a desire to understand human behavior and child psychology, leading her to earn an associate's degree followed by a bachelor's in science with a focus on applied psychology; she is currently pursuing a master's in child psychology. Grinon sees herself as a community helper and has worked to build support networks for families, particularly Hispanic parents navigating the school system. She founded the PTA at her school and has received recognition for her volunteer work as a parent representative. Her efforts are fueled by her children, whom she hopes will see that hard work and community involvement can lead to meaningful change, and she emphasizes the importance of unity and togetherness in helping future generations.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Beatriz
01What do you attribute your success to?
My children are my driving force. I do everything for them so they can see that you can do hard things, conquer anything you put your mind to, and help others while staying happy. Everything I do is based on them wanting them to believe and work hard.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You can do hard things. No matter what they are, put that fear away and do it. Nothing gets done if you don't put the effort, but if you put the effort, you will conquer anything you put your mind into. Everything is in your mind, you control that.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The pay is really low for the work we do in public schools. I love the job but my living situation has changed and I cannot afford such a low-paying job, which might make me not continue my path with the school.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Unity and community togetherness. Working together towards one goal to help our future generation. Community and helping is what's missing as people don't relate to each other anymore.
