Beatriz Thayer

Beatriz Thayer is a veterinarian with 30 years of experience in the field. She graduated in Brazil and practiced there before becoming licensed in the US in 2004. For the past 22 years she has worked as an associate veterinarian and general practitioner with a growing interest in dentistry. In the last five years she has focused primarily on dentistry for dogs and cats, performing surgeries that can last up to four hours. She now works as a per diem contractor at two hospitals, allowing flexibility to also run her apparel company. She teaches dental labs once a year at Tufts Vet School and mentors veterinary interns and students. Last year she and her husband launched Neo Workwear, an apparel company that produces workwear for veterinarians with integrated knee pads, inspired by her own occupational knee issues from years in the field. She is passionate about mentoring and teaching, and has goals that include pursuing a residency in dentistry and eventually creating a nonprofit to provide free dental care to low-income communities and shelters while training shelter veterinarians.
