About Becca
Becca Blumer is a content creator and community activist based in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has spent over 10 years in community work and 6 years in content creation, currently working independently. Her professional background includes roles in museums, community engagement, education, DEI, and accessibility, pursued either independently or through organizations. She was inspired to become a content creator due to the lack of authenticity in social media, particularly the over-editing of plus-size creators. Her meaningful causes include equal rights, DEI, accessibility, immigrant rights, anti-racism, green energy, habitat restoration, and wildlife conservation. She attributes her success to personal determination, stubbornness, and a slight perfectionism, and advises young women to be the best they can be today.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Becca
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to stubbornness and pushing myself. It's been a lot of work in my own push-off. I've had friends and colleagues who have encouraged me, but a lot of it has been me, my personal determination, and slight perfectionism. I don't back down easily.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be the best that you can be today.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The general state of our world and the inability to afford things. Our economy is ridiculous. I have to work insane hours just to get by. AI is a massive problem, taking away jobs. Funding for projects has been cut. Social media is getting taken over by AI, pushing content creators to the back burner. It's really hard, especially for millennials.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Respect, empathy, and a willingness to have the discussion and hear that you might not be right. People need to be able to hear that without blowing their top.
