She is the author of The Adventures of Murphy and Me children’s book series, whose first three titles have each earned a 5-star editorial review from Readers’ Favorite, and MOM I Love You to the Beach and More, which has been translated into four languages. Her mission is simple: to educate, empower, and advocate for others—one person, one story, and one chapter at a time.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Becki
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, curiosity, and a commitment to lifelong learning. I’ve embraced every chapter of my life as an opportunity to grow, even the difficult ones. Each experience has taught me something new, strengthened my perspective, and prepared me for the next chapter. I believe success isn’t just about what we accomplish—it’s about how we use our experiences to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was to never close a door on yourself. Don’t assume an opportunity isn’t meant for you before you’ve even tried. It doesn’t matter where you come from or where you begin. Believe in yourself, work hard, keep learning, and have the courage to take the first step. Some doors will open, some won’t, but you’ll never know unless you’re willing to knock.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never let anyone convince you that you need to fit into one box. Your education, experiences, and passions can complement one another in ways you may not see today. My career has taken me through litigation, healthcare advocacy, publishing, and children’s literature, and each chapter has strengthened the next. Be willing to take risks, keep learning, surround yourself with people who challenge and support you, and always protect your integrity. Your reputation is one of your greatest assets, and the work you do should always reflect the values you want to be known for.
One piece of advice I always share is this: Don’t wait for someone else to give you permission to pursue your goals. If you have an idea that can make a difference, take the first step. Keep learning, keep asking questions, and don’t be afraid to create your own opportunities. Don’t be afraid to get back up when you fall. Take risks. Be resilient. Believe in yourself. Some of the most meaningful chapters of my career began with a single conversation, a willingness to try something new, or the courage to take a chance on myself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think one of the biggest opportunities today is helping people feel informed rather than overwhelmed, and helping them overcome barriers to gain access to healthcare and legal advocacy. We live in a world where information is everywhere, but trusted guidance, meaningful education, and authentic human connection are more valuable than ever. Whether I’m advocating for someone navigating the healthcare system, writing books that help children build confidence and resilience, or speaking with educators, families, and community organizations, I believe our responsibility is to empower people with knowledge, encourage curiosity, and inspire them to keep learning. Technology continues to open remarkable doors, but relationships, integrity, and compassion remain the foundation of meaningful and lasting impact.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, compassion, resilience, and lifelong learning are the values that guide both my personal and professional life. believe in moving forward with purpose, lifting others along the way, and using every chapter of life to make a positive difference.
